About

My name is Kristen. Nice to meet you!

I’m married to Brad, who’s a pastor, and we have one daughter, Joanna. When I’m not wearing my mom hat, I write books and articles and speak.

I see writing and teaching as God-given means to unfold the truth of his Word and apply the gospel to every nook and cranny.

The greatest Story ever told is the one about Jesus Christ. My goal is to “proclaim the excellencies of him who called [me] out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9), to hold out the word of life so the Church might know and treasure Jesus more.

In October 2014, I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. How we grasp the gospel in our suffering is one focus of my writing. My dear friend, Sarah Walton, and I wrote a book about this: Hope When It Hurts: Biblical Reflections to Help You Grasp God’s Purpose in Your Suffering.

I’m currently working on a second book entitled Fight Your Fears: Trusting the Character and Promises of God When You’re Afraid (Bethany House, 2020).

My great passion is to see believers love Christ, learn the Bible, and live the gospel. I especially love teaching the Bible to women at our church and through other local church’s events and retreats. (See the EFCA’s Statement of Faith for a summary of what I believe.) Let me know if you need a speaker—I’d love to serve you!
