Thank you for being here!
I’m Kristen. I am a pastor’s wife, a mother of three, a writer, and a speaker. My mission is to help others love Jesus, learn his word, and live in light of his gospel. I’ve authored several books including:
- Help for the Hungry Soul: Eight Encouragements to Grow Your Appetite for God’s Word
- Humble Moms: How the Work of Christ Sustains the Work of Motherhood
- Fight Your Fears: Trusting God’s Character and Promises When You Are Afraid
- For the Bible Tells Me So (board book series)
- Hope When It Hurts: Biblical Reflections to Help You Grasp God’s Purpose in Your Suffering
- 12 Faithful Women: Portraits of Steadfast Endurance (general editor)
I love teaching God’s word to women of local churches and would count it a privilege to serve you in that way. (Get my speaking info here.) My husband, Brad, and I live in Chicagoland and are members of The Orchard.
The Lord led me to start writing while I was living in New York City and pursuing theater. (I earned a BFA in Music Theater from Illinois Wesleyan University.) After starting a blog with daily devotional thoughts for women, I began writing articles for Christian websites. In a providential turn of events, the Lord led me back home where I started working at our church and, eventually, for our media ministry, Open the Bible. There, I served as an editor, writer, and content manager for five years, and then God opened the door for Hope When It Hurts. “The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps” (Prov. 16:9).
